Hypothesis 2: UFO experiences in trance are only suggested to the people by hypnotherapists, and people produce these apparent experiences only, in order to do a favour to the therapist unconsciously.
Here we address a problem area, that does not have to do anything in the reason with the UFO topic, but with the psychology as a whole. Unfortunately it happens again and again that psychotherapists affect their clients by unprofessional behavior, e.g. by placing leading questions, (in this case e.g.: "You lie on a table. Look around. Do you see there extraterrestials? Do they perform experiments with you? ").
Psychologists call this the False Memory Syndrome, an effect, which, as said, is not typical for the UFO experiences, but also arises not rarely e.g. with the exploration of repressed childhood memories always then, if the Therapeut starts the therapy with a fixed opinion and next does everything (usually unintentional) in order to get this opinion confirmed.
Also the relevant UFO literature is full from such unfortunate procedures. In each branch of profession there are evenly better and less qualified people. Besides there is however also a number of respectable researchers, beside John Mack above all Budd Hopkins and Jacques Vallée, who did their best to do their research as objective as possible. Also for us ourselves we can say that we did our research without being prejudiced, with the pleasing side effect that we learned immensely much from this work, and our own opinion had to be corrected more than once.
So it is clear that at least a part of the "UFO abductions" is real in the sense that at least they hide a real trauma behind them. Also concerning this there are some hypotheses, which you may select here.
