Hypothesis 3: UFO experiences in Trance are only a repressed rendition of the memory of the own birth.

This is the opinion of the Czech-American psychologist Stanislav Grof, one of the best connoisseurs of altered states of consciousness of our time (and teacher of John Mack), who employed concerning this extensive investigations. He found out that the "UFO experience reports" deviate in details from each other slightly and that these details are correlated significantly with the personal birth experience in each case of the concerned persons. For example reported a "UFO kidnapping", which had come by kaiserschnitt into the world (and therefore thus didn't have to come through the birth channel), never report about the crossing of a tunnel, which is regarded as symbol of the birth channel in Grofs transpersonal psychology.

What Grof cannot explain with his hypothesis however, are the following questions:

• Why do some persons develop a trauma from their birth experience in later life, even if the procedure of their birth (e.g. by statements of still living parents) can be reconstructed as perfectly normal?
• Why don't all humans believe to have been abducted by UFOs, (because everyone was born)?

Even if the research results of Stanislav Grof, whom we know and estimate personally, cannot clear the phenomenon of the UFO experiences in trance as a whole, they are important as proof that UFO experiences are subjective realities.

Very close related to this is the next hypothesis.
